Η Ακαδημία Κινηματογραφικών Τεχνών και Επιστημών ανακοίνωσε τις τελικές υποψηφιότητες για τα Βραβεία Όσκαρ 2021 με την τελετή απονομής της υψηλότερης διάκρισης στη βιομηχανία του κινηματογράφου, να διεξάγεται στις 25 Απριλίου του 2021.
H ταινία Mank του Netflix κατάφερε να αποσπάσει 10 υποψηφιότητες, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της καλύτερης ταινίας και σκηνοθεσίας.
Έξι ακόμα ταινίες ξεχώρισαν αποσπώντας έξι υποψηφιότητες η καθεμία. Πρόκειται για τις: “The Father,” “Judas and the Black Messiah,” “Minari,” “Nomadland,” “Sound of Metal,” και “The Trial of the Chicago 7.
Είναι σημαντικό πως 2 Ελληνες είναι ανάμεσα στις υποψηφιότητες: Ο Φαίδων Παπαμιχαήλ για τη διεύθυνση φωτογραφίας της «Δίκης των 7 του Σικάγου» του Ααρον Σόρκιν κι ο Γιώργος Λαμπρινός για το μοντάζ του «The Father» του Φλόριαν Ζέλερ. Τα «Μήλα» σε σκηνοθεσία του Χρήστου Νίκου, η ταινία που εκπροσώπησε την Ελλάδα στις διαδικασίες της φετινής διοργάνωσης, δυστυχώς δεν βρίσκεται στην λίστα με τις 15 ταινίες που προκρίθηκαν για το επόμενο στάδιο
